It has been one month and I am already back in Africa. I can’t believe that a few days ago I was in a cold Chicago winter, and today I was at the beach with my team playing a few games. I am loving the weather here, it reminds me of Hope College in the spring. Spring semester was the best when the weather would start to change and we would all go outside to do our homework. People would be all over the lawn playing Frisbee or football, or just reading their books. Having my team come back together has felt like spring semester in college. We are all excited to be outside in the beautiful weather and spend time together.
I am really anxious to get back to Ithemba and see all of the kids. I can’t wait to hear about their summer holidays, and just spend some time with them. It is so strange that I went from my life in Africa to my life in America.
Probably the biggest event of my Christmas break was my brothers wedding. Cletus and Heather got married on December 28th and it was a beautiful winter day. It was quite and adventure to wear a long formal dress along with my fur winter boots and a long puffy down jacket, while carrying a few bags of much needed supplies. The wedding turned out beautifully, and it was so nice to spend time with my family. I can’t believe that my big brother who I have always looked up to is really married.
I felt really blessed this holiday by the number of people that supported me. Many of my friends drove many miles just to see me for only a few days. Money seemed to come in when I didn’t expect it, and God truly provided for me. I want to thank everyone that supported me financially. I really could not have made it back here without all of your support!
