Friday is always the day that we have off. When walking is our only mode of transportation, we often spend the days downtown or at the beach. Today I had the chance to go with two friends to Port Elizabeth, the closest city to Jeffrey’s Bay. Being from Chicagoland area I often miss the feel of the big city living in this small town. The three of us climbed into the volkswagon chico and got on the road. As we were climbing a hill out of town the car suddenly stalled. Their seemed to be nothing that could get the car to start, many adjustments under the hood, but still nothing. In my mind I am thinking of all the ways we should get back to town, or who can pick us up. But it was really a matter of praying that God would start the car. So while the car is still not starting we turn around to go back down the hill. As the car starts rolling it just starts. It was honestly one of the most confusing and cool things that has ever happened to me. Of course I should have trusted that God would start the car if we prayed and believe. In America I have grown up with the mindset that I need to do what I can to take care of myself. But here in Africa there is such a faith that God is capable of anything and everything. Little by little I am learning how amazing God is and how much he can do for us!
