This past week has seemed both very long and very short! I can’t believe that only a week ago I met the team of people that I am going to be spending the next nine months with. I have created some bonds already that I know will last forever. I feel blessed to be here, and I am so excited for what the days to come have in store.
Right now I am sitting in the Frankfurt airport waiting for my next flight. We flew from Georgia straight to Frankfurt and now we are waiting for our connecting flight to Johannesburg, we have a fourteen-hour wait! I got to take a shower today, which was a real blessing. For training camp I was living in a tent and showering with a cold hose. It was an experience that made me step out of my comfort zone and I loved it.
For the next three weeks I will be in Johannesburg and Swaziland, where we will be trained in language and culture. In Swaziland we will have an opportunity to build relationships with some of the people. I can’t wait to get to Africa, there has been so much building up to this and I am finally here. I feel blessed by this opportunity that God has given me. I loved out my window of the plane last night and I could see the sunset. I felt at peace about what God is doing in my life. He knows what he is doing, just like he knew what he was doing when he made that sunset and had me look at it.
Good luck on the next phase of your journey. I have spent a few hours waiting for a flight in the Frankfurt airport.
Love,
Don & Theresa
I’m excited for your adventures there in Africa. I know that this experience will only add to your spiritual journey and broaden your sense of how big God is and how small we are. Through this realization we can see that though we are small, we are purposedly made for great significance. And people we see as small are often the ones who make a huge impact.
May your days be filled with wonder. May the lives you came to touch put a greater impression in your heart and soul. And may you see God through the smallest of things. He is with you now.
We are praying for you, here in Chicago! ^_^
I love moments like wht you had on the plane. When you can feel God and almost see him. I will be praying for you and your team with the year ahead of you. I pray that the bonds and relationships that you build this year will be strong and God centered.
I miss you already but I can’t wait to hear more stories of your time in SA. If it’s anything like Kenya and Tanzania, you’ll fall in love with it.
As my dad says, “Always remember to watch and pray.”
Much love on behalf of the Jacksons, ~Kierra~
