I am so excited to start this blog because it means that I am going to Africa! If you had told me four years ago when I started college that I would be going to Africa I would not have believed you. I would have said that I was going back to Evanston to teach 3rd grade. God obviously had other plans for me and I am so excited!
Here is a devotion that I did yesterday, and it has just made me think about what is going on in my life. I have such a mix of emotions after graduating college just one week ago. But through everything Christ is there with us even if we forget
Christ sets us free by the power of his Spirit. He maintains out freedom as we may learn to live from day to day in his power.
God, I claim your Word that says I did not receive a spirit that makes me a slave again to fear, but I received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him I cry. “Abba Father” (Romans 8:15). Help me to cry out unashamedly to You, my Father, when I am gripped by fear. This kind of fear is not of You! (2:Timothy 1:7)
Victorious God, I thank You that the weapons with which I fight are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. I demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and I choose to take every thought to make it obedient to Christ! (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
Congratulations on your first post! I have just one question for you though: What took you so long?! I’ve noticed your name hanging in the list for quite some time and there’s been no blogging. Well, better late than never. ๐
Isn’t it amazing how God can take our carefully laid plans, throw them in a blender, rearrange them and make them work out better that we could have possibly imagined? He did something very similar with me to get me to Africa. Speaking of blenders… I really want a strawberry banana milkshake right now…
Anyway, those two verses are, simply put, awesome. They embody what it means to have freedom and victory in Christ. Thank you for sharing them with us.
May your blogs be long and frequent, (I’ll read them.) and may God bless you!
Doesn’t it feel official when you write your first blog…WELCOME!! its funny your story is sort of like mine…i was gonna finish college and each elementary school(perferably 2nd or 3rd), but as you said God changes our plans and we just have to sit back and trust him!! Again welcome and cant wait to meet you!!
